How to genuinley increase your brain Power with Practical Example

Hello everyone in my last article I talked about 3 principles of MEMORY PALACE by Dominic O'Brien which were Imagination, Association and Location.
Today I will be going to illustrate the Imagination and Association as I told you in my last article so before getting started
Lets play a game.
It's very simple I'm going to give you 10 words
And you will have to memorise them.

1. Pencil
2. Paper
3. Carpet
4. Snake
5. Gold
6. Snake
7. Guitar
8. Truck
9. Apple
10. Magazine
Give a look at them and then count on fingers and see how many words have you memorised. Comment the number below.
Now if you have memorised 5-7 words like me that means you are an average person and when I tried this for the first time I was able to memorise only 7 words not even in Their respective order.
Since we all know that our brain is capable to store much more data than this. A study showed that our brain is capable of storing 2.5 PetaBytes.
1 PetaByte = 1024 TeraBytes
1 TeraByte = 1024 GigaBytes
1 GigaByte = 1024 MegaBytes

Now lets have a good understanding of 2.4 PetaBytes. If you make a video which is in good quality and you start watching it. Amazingly it will take you around 300 years to finish that video. You will be surprised that your brain is capable of that much memory but then the question arises why we are not able to memorise only 10 words?
Reason is we do not use proper techniques to memorise things. Many of us try to memorise like a parrot but in reality our brain is not made to be used like this.
Dominic O'Brien has been a World Memory Champion for 8 times not because he was very Smart or intelligent in fact he was not a good performer in class. Moreover, he also had Dyslexia even then He became a World Champion due to the methods and techniques that he knew to memorise his anything.
I will tell you the secret of his memorising by 3 simple principles which he mentioned in his book.

1. Imagination
William James wrote in his book that Imagination and Memory are strongly connected to eachother in our brain. Lets suppose if I ask you to share any good experience with me before telling you will start imagining that scenario in your mind and then you will be able to tell me easily.
In simple words if you can easily imagine something then you can also memorise very easily.
When I asked you about those 10 words many of us were not able to memorise all of them and not even for a longer time period. Because we were not able to imagine along with those words. Means when I said Pencil then you might have imagined yourself having a Pencil in your hand and you are writing very beautifully and passed an exam with that pencil. And the fragrance of that pencil was very pleasing.
Now if you have noticed that I've used different human senses like how that pencil was looking, the fragrance and that feel while holding that pencil.
Why I did this? Because if you use most of your senses while imagining something then you will most likely to remember that thing in future.

2. Association
Association means a connection between two things or making yourself realize that two things are connected to eachother.
For example when we hear something we tend to remember other things associated with that specific thing. It happens because our mind can easily store things that are connected to eachother or similar and vice versa.
Lets take the same example when I asked you about those 10 words they were all different from eachother but if I asked you about those words which had connection in between like
PENCIL, RULER, ERASER etc. You will easily be able to memorise them because we can associate those words with eachother.

Key is to imagine different words and associate them with different things using your senses in order to memorise them easily and for longer term.

There is a technique called STORY METHOD which is formed by these two principles; Imagination and Association.

You can increase your memory capability by using this STORY METHOD.

Now lets have a practical implication of this technique by playing the same game

That we have played in the beginning of the article and lets see what are the outcomes
Lets start
1. Cycle: imagine your riding a very comfortable cycle which is blue in color and you are feeling really good. Cold breezes are touching your body
2. Chocolate: now you are getting hungry while cycling. You stop at nearby store and buy your favourite chocolate and start eating
3. Guitar: while eating chocolate you suddenly hear a beautiful music played by some people on guitar and you are attracted towards that music
4. Soldier: while listening to the guitar you see there is a soldier who is tall and muscular standing beside those people.
5. Suitcase: now you see a suitcase in his hand
6. Necklace: now you see a beautiful lady wearing a diamond necklace standing with that soldier
7. Football: suddenly while you are eating chocolate and listening to the music a football strikes the ground
8. Kids: when you see the kids are asking to return that football to them.
9. Mask: Now while you looking at the kids one of them is wearing a mask of Batman.
10. Rose: now suddenly you smell a beautiful fragrance of rose and when you search around you see a person who is selling roses.
The End
Now start counting the words and if you have properly imagined the story your score will be
Around 8-10 for sure.
Comment your scores down below.
Remember this technique will be much better if you use your own Imaginations and your senses to craft a story while memorising anything.
This amazing technique is also taken from a book "You Can Have An Amazing Memory" by Dominic O'Brien.
