How to boost your confidence in just 2 minutes
Hey everyone, I know it’s very common to have fear or
anxiety in situations like introducing ourself to many people, talking to
someone special, giving presentation or going for an interview, Right?
Our heart starts beating very fast and our breathe starts
distorting because of this we cannot properly overcome the situation and after
that we REGRET about what we ought to do and what we have done. Am I Right?
Now, the reason of all this is LACK OF CONFIDENCE!!
We can perfectly talk to a group a children but we would be
nervous if we talk to any one of a billionaire. This is because we have a
feeling of being LESS POWERFUL. YES, we human beings are controlled by
different types of powers and our behavior is influenced them. So what happens
is that we get nervous and we start making mistakes because it’s pretty natural
for human beings to make mistakes when they are nervous. Which is not a good
thing.
Not to forget that these are all the things that I have
faced in my life or still facing a few but as I grew up and started learning
different things, I started working on my personal development and Now I can
proudly say that I have made a change in my life. I try to relate all the knowledge
with my personal experience in order to let everyone have a better
understanding.
So let’s come back to the topic, what you need to do is to
FEEL MORE POWERFUL than others in order to cope up with these kinds of anxiety,
only then you will change your REGRETS into COMPOSURE, CONFIDENCE and
SATISFACTION.
Author Amy Cady had a car accident where she got injury on
her head, Doctors clearly told her that because of this injury you will not
able to pass your college. But Amy proved them WRONG!! She didn’t even
completed her college but became a renowned Professor of Harvard Business
School after that she gave one of the most popular TEDTALK and published a
great book. Let me tell you an exciting thing I am giving you a summary of this
book by Amy Cady.
Question arises that from where did she get that much confidence,
self-esteem and power through which proved everyone wrong and became
successful.
Answer lies in her own research in which she found out a
simple scientific trick in order to feel more powerful and confident, which she
always uses.
We can also feel CONFIDENT and POWERFUL in JUST 2 MINUTES!! Yes
only 2 minutes. This is amazing!!
In an experiment by Amy Cady she took two groups of people A nd B and told group A to make HIGH POWER POSES for 2 minutes and group B to make UNDER CONFIDENT POSES for 2 minutes. RESULTS were amazing
When they took a blood test of Group A, they found that their TESTOSTERONE Level increased by 20% and CORTISOL Level was decreased by 25%
On the other hand Group B had TESTOSTERONE Level decreased by 10% and CORTISOL Level was increased by 17%
TESTOSTERONE is a dominance hormone which increases Assertiveness, Confidence and Power
while the CORTISOL is related to Stress and Fear
So his body reaction is like this picture. Author described this as a UNIVERSAL VICTORY POSE. Because every person does this regardless of country, religion or culture. The fact lies here is that when we feel more confident and powerful OUR BODY EXPANDS and we take more space. This is not only common in Human Beings but also in Animals too. You might have seen a kitten when she gets scared of something she tries to hide and make herself as small as possible.
So whenever a LOW CONFIDENT person talks to somebody he/she talks very fast without pauses because they think that they are wasting others time or the other person is not that much interested in them. On the other hand when a HIGH CONFIDENT person talks to somebody he/she takes pauses, talks slowly which shows power. The reason is our brain is connected to our bodies and it controls the body so when ever we feel different kinds of emotions our body languages changes because of the signs we are getting from our brain. The point everyone know is we cannot control our brain but we can control our body language.
So Amy Cady in her research showed that we can control our brain by controlling our body language.
In simple words when you feel under-confident you just need to make poses that are POWERFUL and SHOWS CONFIDENCE,
